POSITION DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: BUSINESS OFFICE SPECIALIST - HUMAN RESOURCES

SUPERVISOR: Director of Financial Services

FUNCTION

The Business Office Specialist (Human Resources) assists with employee benefit and personnel management of the District and the related workload which flows through this department.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of general office procedures.
Knowledge of computer software and applications, i.e. Microsoft Office and VISIONS.
Extended experience in accounts payable.
Extended experience in human resources.
Ability to perform basic mathematical operations as required in routine fiscal operations.
Ability to relate cordially with staff, parents, students and the general public.
Availability to attend (travel to) workshops, conferences and training, as necessary.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Greet all visitors courteously, determine their needs, check appointments and direct or escort them to the proper person.
Reconcile and assist the Business Office Specialist (Payroll) with the District's insurance program(s).
Reconcile district bank accounts.
Maintain departmental records.
Complete database entry of new employee setup.

6. Prepare and maintain contracts/working agreements and all other personnel records.

a. Work in conjunction with federal, state and county agencies for employee certification and licensing.
b. Maintain confidential records i.e. fingerprint/background checks.
c. Employment Eligibility Verifications.
d. Maintain employee attendance records.

7. Maintain reports.
a. School District Employee Reports, ADE reports, etc.

8. Maintain employee application database & communication.

9. District substitute lists.

10. Distribute company gas cards upon verification from the Supervisor of Transportation.

11. Assist other departments in the office as necessary.

12. Performs other duties as directed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Stooping, kneeling, bending, climbing, turning, as necessary to access storage area, file cabinets, etc.
Sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time, as in filing, collating, typing, etc.
Lifting, placing, maneuvering loads of 20-35 lbs., i.e., record books, supply items, etc.
Maintain a clean designated work station.

TERMS OF CONTRACT

Twelve-month contract. Salary as determined by the Board of Education. Leave Accumulation and Vacation in accordance with Board policy. Annual evaluation in accordance with Board policy.

EVALUATION

Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education policy on evaluation of administrative personnel.
