ABOUT THE POSITION
The People and Culture team delivers programs necessary to develop and maintain a high-performing and equity-focused workforce and a work culture which inspires and supports employees in meeting their mission-critical work. The People and Culture staff are stewards and champions of the Innocence Project’s values, particularly our commitments to dignity and respect of all staff, and inclusion, equity and belonging, and must hold these principles as foundational to the work.
The Recruitment Manager is a key part of this collaborative People and Culture team. They report to and partner with the Assistant Director of Talent to develop and implement strategies to recruit top mission-driven and values-driven talent to join the Innocence Project. The Recruitment Manager is responsible for managing the full recruitment life cycle, including sourcing candidates through various outlets, training hiring managers and hiring teams on recruitment and selection processes and best practices, training users to utilize applicant tracking software, coaching hiring teams on interviewing strategies and best practices, liaising with candidates and keeping them engaged throughout the process, scheduling interviews, and making employment offers to final candidates.

The duties of this position require approximately 40 hours of work per week to be performed virtually/in-office. We currently have a hybrid in-office model, with all employees in the office three days per week and the remainder of the week remotely. Wednesday is our organization’s “anchor day,” where all staff works in the office. The number of required in-office days is subject to change.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate is a dynamic and highly personable and team player who has a passion for building relationships and finding solutions. The candidate must have an equity-centered approach to recruitment and have a talent for coaching and guiding others, including hiring managers, and keeping teams aligned on priorities. The candidate must also be extremely organized and know how to prioritize assignments in a high-volume work environment. Foundational knowledge of recruitment and selection regulations, applicant tracking systems, and best practices is required, and recruitment experience for a nonprofit organization is preferred. This position is well suited for someone interested in keeping their generalist skills sharp while taking on an area of expertise within a collaborative People and Culture team.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
MANAGE RECRUITMENT AND HIRING PROCESS
- With the Assistant Director of Talent, work closely with hiring teams to ensure the hiring process is in line with best practices and IP’s organizational guidelines regarding recruitment and hiring; ensuring that it is equitable, well-structured, thoughtful in its approach, that it accurately assesses relevant criteria of candidates, and is sufficiently project-managed. This includes:
- Working with departments and the Assistant Director of Talent to develop thorough and consistent job postings and descriptions
- Leading weekly status update meetings with the hiring teams
- Working with teams to develop interviewing strategies, interview questions that align with job skills and competencies, and panel composition
- Manage the distribution of job openings to a wide audience and ensure that job announcements reach a diverse slate of potential candidates.
- Maintain equitable process for internships and externships and work with departments to advertise and source candidates for these positions
CANDIDATE ENGAGEMENT AND RELATIONSHIP BUILDING
- Be the primary point of contact with candidates throughout their recruitment experience, including initial outreach to candidates, phone screens (when appropriate), status updates, interview preparation, disengagement notifications, and other touch points for candidate engagement and success.
- Strategically develop relationships with university alumni groups, HBCUs, recruiters, bar association groups, and other outlets for job advertising and recruitment needs, especially those in alignment with our strategic goals to recruit and retain lawyers and staff from historically underrepresented groups.
- Manage the distribution of internship and some job openings to a wide audience and ensure that announcements reach a diverse slate of potential candidates.
RECRUITMENT SYSTEMS, DATA AND ANALYTICS
- Manage and maintain the Workable applicant tracking system and all of its functions in order to maximize our recruitment and hiring efforts. Collaborate with the AD of Talent to train hiring teams on usage.
- Monitor and track recruitment metrics as well as feedback from hiring teams and candidates on process.
- Ensure hiring managers are trained on interviewing and hiring best practices and techniques, such as implicit bias and structured interviewing practices.
HIRING TEAM TRAINING AND BEST PRACTICES
- Partner with the AD of Talent to ensure hiring managers and teams are trained on interviewing and hiring best practices and techniques, such as implicit bias and structured interviewing practices.
- Work closely with the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee to integrate DEI principles throughout the recruitment lifecycle process.
- Partner with hiring managers and teams to implement strategies that promote diversity in the candidate pool and minimize biases in candidate selection.
- Regularly review and update IP’s organizational guidelines to align with best practices in DEI and anti-racism/anti-bias practices.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's or equivalent training plus at least 5 years relevant experience
- HR Certification preferred
- Experience with recruitment preferably for a non-profit organization and working in one or more Applicant Tracking Systems (experience using Workable preferred)
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Excel as well as G-Suite
- Familiarity with Federal and State employment laws and wide range of HR practices
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

SALARY RANGE
$93,500-$110,000 Salary commensurate with experience
