We are seeking a skilled and motivated Human Resources Generalist to support the daily operations of our HR department. This onsite role plays a key part in maintaining compliance, streamlining HR processes, and enhancing the employee experience within our growing healthcare organization. The ideal candidate will bring strong HR fundamentals, excellent communication skills, and a working knowledge of employment laws relevant to New Mexico.
Position Overview
- Support full-cycle recruitment activities, including job postings, interview coordination, employee file creation, and onboarding in compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Maintain clear and supportive communication with new hires, hiring managers, and departments throughout the onboarding process.
- Serve as a resource for employees regarding benefit eligibility, coverage, and related inquiries.
- Assist in the planning and coordination of training sessions, employee engagement initiatives, and organizational development efforts.
- Partner with finance and payroll teams to ensure accurate payroll processing; resolve payroll-related issues in a timely manner.
- Respond to employee questions related to HR policies, procedures, and handbook interpretation.
- Prepare employment status reports and other compliance-related documentation as needed.
- Maintain HRIS system integrity, including password resets and basic troubleshooting support.
- Regularly audit and update personnel records to ensure accuracy and confidentiality.
- Provide guidance to management on employee relations matters and assist with investigations when necessary.
- Process employee leave requests and maintain accurate absence records.
- Manage employee separation processes, ensuring proper documentation and communication.
- Assist with various administrative tasks and HR projects as directed.
- Ensure timely completion of projects and deliverables while maintaining high attention to detail.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- 5–7 years of progressive HR experience strongly preferred, with prior experience in a healthcare setting such as Home Care, Home Health, or Hospice.
- Proven experience as an HR Generalist, with expertise in unemployment claims, workers’ compensation, benefits administration, and payroll coordination.
- Solid understanding of federal and state employment laws and HR compliance requirements.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of the organization.
- High level of discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive or confidential information.
- Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills; able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Confident in analyzing and presenting HR-related data and reports to leadership.
- Approachable, patient, and attentive listener with a positive and service-oriented mindset.
- Demonstrated initiative, adaptability, and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Windows OS (intermediate to advanced level).
- Commitment to maintaining regular, dependable attendance and adherence to company policies.
- Ability to work at a desk for extended periods and perform computer-based tasks efficiently.
