Under general supervision of the Director, the Nursing Recruiter/ Employee Health Nurse works closely with the HRD, CNO, Nursing Leaders and front-line staff. Serves as an integral partner in managing recruitment activities, building candidate relationships and often providing candidates with their first impressions of Huntsville Memorial Hospital. Works effectively with internal and external customers and candidates and possesses great communication skills. Responsible for administration of efficient and professional operations of employee health services in accordance with policies and procedures, practices, and applicable regulations. Endeavors to promote health and safety to all employees, providers, volunteers and contract staff. This includes injury/exposure prevention and treatment, follow up with employee illnesses and injuries, vaccination program administration and promoting a safe work environment. Works in conjunction with the Infection Prevention Practitioner under the direction of the Medical Director and Chairman of the Infection Control Committee.
- Recruits top talent including sourcing and interviewing for all positions in assigned departments.
- Pre-screens resumes and candidates for appropriate qualifications and cultural fit for open positions.
- Ensures personnel requisitions are completed and posted in a timely manner.
- Schedules interviews and phone screens working directly with internal and external candidates and hiring managers or external recruiting agencies. Oversees interview tools.
- Identifies opportunities for improving candidate experience and scheduling efficiency.
- Refers best-qualified applicant to department for selection. Coordinates interviews with Directors and maintains contact with applicant regarding the interview process.
- Partners with other HR team members for planning recruitment activities.
- Drafts offer letters and make candidate offers, ensuring adherence to wage and salary guidelines.
- Manages requisitions, update candidate records and job posting in the applicant tracking system.
- Facilitates relationships with Universities and nursing programs throughout the area.
- Conducts new and annual employee health screenings and vaccine clinics to include immunizations.
- Plans and implements other vaccine programs as directed by applicable regulatory agencies.
- Conducts TB screening for all new employees, medical staff practitioners and volunteers according to the Hospital TB control plan and/or at least annually. Conducts baseline and follow-up skin testing for all employees with TB exposures.
- Keeps current file of employees, providers, volunteers, and contractors vaccinations or attestations as applicable including employee health records.
- Oversees employee blood and body fluid exposure program in conjunction with Infection Preventionist. Administers investigative follow-up for exposure to blood or other potentially infectious material involving employees. Initiates follow-up testing as required for blood borne disease. Provides pre and post counseling for exposed employees, volunteers, medical staff, or contract personnel. Completes required documentation of exposure, follow-up and reporting, and maintains record of exposures.
- Plans, implements and conducts annual TB and bloodborne pathogen training to employees, physicians, volunteers and contract staff in required departments. Provides education on an as needed basis regarding hand washing and isolation practices in conjunction with the Infection Preventionist.
- Participates on the Infection Control Committee and other committees at the request of leadership.
- Provides initial assessment of employee injuries; ensures proper referrals made to Workers Compensation Insurance. Trends employee illnesses/injuries to identify safety and health issues. Maintains summaries and written reports required for employee illness/injury reporting as indicated by OSHA.
- Maintains confidentiality between the health care professional and the employee as required by OSHA, HIPAA, professional ethics codes, and individual state privacy acts.
- Maintains and updates Employee Health- related policies and protocols as needed.
- Assists the Infection Preventionist with NHSN reporting and other duties to comply with overall infection prevention and control program.
Education: Graduate of a vocational nursing program required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience: Prior hospital experience required.
License/Certifications: Current licensure as a Vocational Nurse or Registered Nurse in the State of Texas required.
