Job Summary:
The HR Director will oversee all human resources operations and ensure they align with the organization’s mission and objectives. They will be responsible for shaping the HR strategy, managing employee relations, and ensuring compliance with employment laws. The HR Director will also play a key role in fostering a positive workplace culture and supporting the professional development of staff members in a non-profit setting with 55 employees.
Key Responsibilities:
1. HR Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and implement HR strategies that align with the organization’s goals.
- Advise leadership on HR-related matters and provide strategic recommendations.
- Monitor and evaluate workforce planning and staffing needs.
2. Recruitment & Onboarding
- Oversee recruitment efforts, including job postings, candidate screening, and interview processes.
- Develop and maintain an effective onboarding process to ensure new hires integrate smoothly.
3. Employee Relations & Culture
- Foster a positive, inclusive workplace culture consistent with the organization’s values.
- Mediate conflicts and facilitate effective resolution of workplace issues.
- Develop programs and initiatives that promote employee engagement and retention.
4. Compliance & Policy Development
- Ensure compliance with all employment-related laws and regulations (e.g., EEOC, FMLA, FLSA).
- Maintain and update HR policies and procedures as needed, ensuring they meet legal requirements.
- Manage employee handbook revisions and communicate policy changes.
5. Compensation & Benefits
- Administer compensation programs, including salary benchmarking and adjustments.
- Manage benefits programs (health, retirement, etc.), ensuring they are competitive and support employee well-being.
- Collaborate with finance to ensure accurate payroll processing.
6. Performance Management & Development
- Oversee the performance management process, including evaluations, feedback, and goal setting.
- Identify staff development needs and coordinate professional development opportunities.
- Support leadership development initiatives and succession planning.
7. Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
- Lead efforts to create a diverse and inclusive workplace.
- Ensure all HR practices promote equity and eliminate biases in recruitment, promotions, and compensation.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Non-profit experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with employment laws and regulations.
- Strong understanding of HR systems and processes.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
