POSITION Administration Manager
This position is in the Capital Projects branch. The person in this role will act as a liaison to internal and external stakeholders as we support Houston Public Works and City department partners

- Follows all City and Department policies and procedures.
- May direct and review vendor and business partners outlined in their contracts/agreements ensuring they meet contractual expectations.
- Directs staff services, including personne l, purchasing and public relations
- Works with the Assistant Director to ensure cost consciousness and takes appropriate partners in finance and procurement before, during, and after-action review for projects and initiatives.
Teamwork – we work together
- Works in partnership with all departments , sections within the Capital Projects, and external stakeholders to host weekly/monthly/quarterly meetings to share content and improve team communication and collaboration for external projects .
- Works with City and Department partners to create cohesive and clear messaging utilizing brand standards for all projects .
- Is an active participant in City of Houston and Houston Public Works initiatives and special projects.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This is not a remote working position. The office environment is physically comfortable and has no major sources of discomfort; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. There are occasional periods of stooping, bending, and be able to lift 40 pounds.
This is a Houston Public Works position at the Tier III Level.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Political Science, Psychology or a closely related field.
Experience Requirements
Six (6) years of pertinent, progressive professional experience in personnel, administration, accounting or a closely related field are required.
A Master's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or a field closely related to the work being performed may be substituted for two years of experience.
Directly related professional experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
License Requirements
None
PREFERENCES
Preference will be given to applicants with experience, education and/or training in a dminist ering/supervising an enforcement or regulatory function, preferably with experience in the public sector.
- Preference shall also be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.**
