We are seeking a dynamic HR Director for a leading Space & Defense organisation based in Sacramento. This role involves strategic leadership and delivery of objectives in talent management, organizational effectiveness, employee experience, change management, and employee relations. Success in this role requires influential partnerships with the Defense Segment leaders across the enterprise to execute HR strategies that drive business results and organizational effectiveness.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with senior leadership to understand and implement staffing, recruiting, and retention strategies.
- Oversee administration of HR programs, including compensation, disciplinary matters, disputes and investigations, performance and talent management, productivity, recognition, and morale.
- Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation.
- Develop and roll out new HR practices and ensure compliance with state and federal laws, including for government contractors.
- Analyze trends and metrics to develop solutions, programs, and policies.
- Resolve complex employee relations issues through thorough investigations.
- Maintain legal compliance in day-to-day employee management, reducing legal risks.
- Offer performance management guidance, including coaching, counseling, career development, and disciplinary actions.
- Improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
- Manage paperwork for new hires, promotions, transfers, and terminations.
- Provide guidance on restructures, workforce planning, and succession planning.
- Monitor and evaluate training programs to ensure their success and meet training objectives.
Requirements:
- 7-10 years of HR experience, preferably within aerospace and/or government & defense sectors.
- Knowledge of DoD / federal government contracting, FAR, DFAR, and contracts regarding employment requirements.
- Experience in resolving complex employee relations issues.
- Working knowledge of multiple HR disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, diversity, performance management, and federal and state employment laws.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential or the ability to obtain certification within one year of employment.
- Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time.
