Job Description
IRI is seeking a competent Director of Human Resources to lead the Human Resources team. As the Director of Human Resources you will work under the guidance of the Chief of Staff leading all human resources activities for the organization including recruitment, onboarding, retention, employee benefits management and counseling, compensation, salary administration, performance evaluations, labor and employee relations, succession planning, and human resource information systems and records management. This is a full-time position, fully in-person at our Elmont, NY office.

Key Responsibilities:
- The Director of Human Resources in consultation with the Chief of Staff administers the employee compensation function of the agency ensuring that positions are correctly classified under state and federal DOL provisions.
- The Director of Human Resources provides technical assistance and supervision to his/her recruitment, benefits administration, employee relations and support staff as well as any managerial staff in matters related to human resource management.
- The Director of Human Resources in conjunction with the Chief of Staff researches, develops and manages the Agency’s performance evaluation process
- The Director of Human Resources ensures consistent and equitable application of human resource policies and government regulations by advising senior management about the applicable policies and regulations, providing training for supervisors, and enforcing the personnel policies of the Agency.
- The Director of Human Resources manages the relationship with the union and the execution of the union contract provisions
- The Director of Human Resources conducts investigations related to employee issues as needed, and recommends a plan of action.
- The Director of Human Resources along with the Chief of Staff leads all employee benefit contract negotiations.
- The Director of Human Resources oversees and coordinates open enrollment and employee benefit roll outs to ensure a smooth implementation of any benefit offerings or changes in existing plans.
- The Director of Human Resources is responsible for the integrity of the Agency’s Human Resources Information System by ensuring the accurate recording of required information and conducting periodic internal audits of personnel records
- The Director of Human Resources leads the Agency’s recruitment function for all levels of employees by designing recruitment and selection strategies, partnering with staffing vendors and promoting internal talent.
- The Director of Human Resources provides the CEO and Leadership team with relevant metrics in the areas of recruitment, retention, compensation, and employee demographics among others to inform the decision making process of the Agency.
About You
You are the ideal candidate if you are passionate about helping organizations thrive through excellent human resources practices and have experience working in the social services, non profit sector
- You have a Master degree in human resources, business administration, public administration or related field with at least five (10) years of HR experience in a supervisory position preferably in the OPWDD field
- You have experience working in a unionized environment
- You have the ability to manage a culturally and educationally diverse work force
- You have excellent presentation and writing skills
- You have superb interpersonal skills
- You are able to represent the agency professionally
- You have an excellent command of computer programs and software applications
- Expert knowledge of governing regulation
- You are bilingual
- You have a SHRM certification

Pay: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
