Position Description
The SR Human Resources Generalist will help develop and implement people priorities that support business and departmental objectives and values relating to department metrics, compliance and reporting. Professional duties and responsibilities may fall in some or all of the following functional areas: employee relations, training, employment, leaves of absence, labor relations, affirmative action and employment equity programs. This position requires an extremely perceptive person who is capable of relating to individuals at all levels within the organization. The SR Human Resources Generalist must be sensitive to corporate needs, employee goodwill and business needs.
Essential Functions
- Support day-to-day HR Operations activities through standard processes and procedures.
- Partners with employees and management to communicate various human resource policies, procedures, laws, standards and other government regulations.
- Conducts exit interviews, analyzes data and makes recommendations to the management team for corrective action and continuous improvement.
- Processes onboarding, off boarding, terminations, and updates data when needed in HRIS.
- Assist HR/Management with employee relation issues such as employee complaints, harassment allegations and civil rights complaints.
- Represents the company for any unemployment claims.
- Support employees with the Family Medical Leave process and communicate status updates with management.
- Completes headcount, EEO-1, and California pay data reports.
- Maintains and coordinates employee recognition/wellness programs.
- Assist HR/Management with EEOC and NLRB charges
- Assist HR/Management investigating, answering and settling grievances, by arranging and scheduling grievance hearings between union personnel, supervisor and the management team.
- Assist HR/Management by coaching, counseling and guiding managers before executing employee disciplinary actions.
- Manages annual performance review process and training.
- Assist Management with the performance improvement process when needed.
- Support and assist with implementation, rollout and improvement of specific projects.
- Participates and assists with internal and external audits.
- Identify and leverage best practices - eliminate processing redundancies.
- Assist in identifying and implementing program enhancements to current benefits as well as participating in process improvements.
- Adherence to all internal and external safety requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications
- BS/BA degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Industrial Relations or related fields with 4 years' experience in HR transaction, benefits or payroll.
- Strong analytical and project tracking skills.
- Strong orientation to detail and process excellence.
- High customer service attitude.
- Must have outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
- Working knowledge of federal and state HR related regulations and compliance procedures.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, interacting and consulting effectively with managers and employees.
- Strong MS Office skills with depth of knowledge in Excel.
- Strong planning, execution and organizational skills with a proactive attitude that gets things done.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or business preferred, or equivalent experience
- PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of Human Resources experience

Work Environment/Physical Demands
- Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
- Frequent sitting and operating a computer.
- Must be able to use body members to work, move or carry objects or office materials.
- Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally.
