As the Human Resources Generalist, you will manage key HR functions including onboarding, recruitment, benefits administration, and employee training while ensuring compliance with California labor laws. You will play a vital role in fostering a positive company culture, driving employee retention, and supporting the HR department with essential administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage onboarding and off-boarding processes, ensuring smooth transitions for employees.
- Support recruitment efforts, including job postings, screening, interviewing, and new hire orientation.
- Administer leave of absence programs, including FMLA, CFRA, PDL, and other state-specific leave programs.
- Oversee benefits administration, including open enrollment, employee questions, and compliance with California-specific benefit requirements (ACA, CalSavers).
- Cultivate a positive company culture by fostering collaboration, recognition, and employee development initiatives.
- Implement employee retention strategies, including engagement programs and feedback systems to ensure high levels of job satisfaction and loyalty.
- Ensure compliance with California wage and hour laws, including proper payroll processing, overtime, and meal/rest break regulations.
- Ensure compliance with California’s anti-discrimination and harassment laws, including overseeing mandatory sexual harassment training.
- Classify employees correctly under California’s AB5 legislation and manage exempt vs. non-exempt status in accordance with labor law.
- Maintain employee data privacy in compliance with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
- Provide general administrative support, including record-keeping, file maintenance, and report generation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience as an HR Generalist or similar HR role.
- Strong knowledge of California labor laws, including wage and hour laws, FMLA, CFRA, and leave administration.
- Experience managing benefits administration and open enrollment.
- Proven ability to cultivate a positive company culture and implement employee retention strategies.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with California employment laws, compliance, and regulations (knowledge of AB5, CCPA, ACA, and harassment prevention laws is a plus).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, handling multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
