Job Description
The Manager, Human Resources leads the human resources business partner function for an assigned group of business units/hospitals in the California Region. Leads an HR team in the development and alignment of HR strategies consistent with business needs. Determines HR implications of changing business needs and recommends actions to be taken. Demonstrates the capacity to strategically shape change, promote fiscal responsibility and integration of the core values while meeting the organization’s strategies and objectives. Accountable for setting and ensuring high quality and standards for HR service delivery. Serves as a trusted advisor to executives and provides solutions to complex or critical issues. Fosters an environment of continuous improvement by motivating, mentoring, and developing others.
Responsibilities
- Develops strategies to improve retention of staff and guides leaders and managers on implementation and effectiveness. Provides support to leaders and managers on employee engagement strategies. Monitors development of action plans and completion.
- Develops and administers all employee and labor relations activities and local strategies for California region. Conducts vulnerability assessments and recommendations. Provides guidance to HR staff and managers on employee relations issues.
- Evaluates HR reports, decisions and the results of hospital departments initiatives in relation to established organization and hospital goals and objectives. Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of hospital departments.
- Partners with leaders and talent acquisition to develop workforce plans to ensure the hospitals have the right staff in place at the right time. Approves requisitions or employee increases as needed.
- Works collaboratively with shared services and centers of excellence to ensure a seamless, integrated HR experience for leaders and employees.
- Acts as strategic partner and trusted advisor to senior leaders of hospitals/assigned business groups.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- 10 years Human Resources Experience
- Experience working in a shared service HR environment
- Exceptional written and verbal communication, interpersonal, consultative and negotiation skills
- Ability to successfully perform in an environment of changing priorities and assignments.
- Demonstrated experience and ability to build effective working relationships, at all levels, and to represent the department effectively to accomplish goals
- Thorough knowledge of Federal, State, local laws, and legal climate pertaining to Human Resources
- Proven success in providing proactive, timely, and accurate customer service
- Previous experience working with labor union.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree
- Experience in Health care industry
- Previous management experience
- SPHR or SHRM-SCP
Pay Rate: Min - $137,300 | Max - $188,775

The hospital offers a wide range of inpatient and outpatient acute care services, including an orthopedic center, cardiovascular services, acute rehabilitation, sub-acute care, psychiatric care and chemical dependency programs. Additionally, SCH-CC operates a 24-hour emergency services center, which serves as a paramedic receiving station and is staffed by board-certified emergency physicians and nurse specialists.
