The American Trucking Associations (ATA), the nation’s leading trade and lobby association representing the trucking industry, is seeking a detail-oriented and professional Human Resources (HR) Manager. In this role, you’ll be responsible for a wide range of HR functions, including compliance, recruiting, benefits, and employee development. You’ll work closely with leadership and staff to ensure our HR strategies align with ATA’s mission and goals.
This position reports to the Senior Director, Human Resources & Operations and does not have any budgetary or supervisory responsibilities.
The HR Manager is a hybrid position, requiring in-office attendance at ATA headquarters at least 3 days per week, including Mondays and Tuesdays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Compliance: Manage compliance updates and reporting in accordance with federal, state, and local employment laws, ERISA, and HIPAA requirements, while maintaining timely and accurate reporting and record-keeping. Regularly review and update HR policies to ensure compliance and consistency with ATA’s mission.
- Recruiting: Work with department leaders to identify talent needs, manage the recruitment process, and support the growth of ATA by selecting top talent. Conduct initial interviews, evaluate candidates, and extend job offers while ensuring a seamless candidate experience.
- Benefits & Payroll: Oversee benefits programs and payroll administration, recommend improvements, and stay current on relevant laws and regulations. Monitor best practices and legislative updates to optimize benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, retirement, and leave programs. Oversee leave management (FMLA, STD, LTD, Parental Leave) and ensure clear, equitable policies are in place for all staff. Work closely with payroll to ensure benefits deductions and reporting are accurate and timely.
- Employee Development & Engagement: Support the Senior Director in designing and implementing employee performance and engagement initiatives, including training programs, wellness activities, and performance management processes. Assist in performance management processes, providing guidance to managers on best practices for employee reviews and feedback. Address employee relations issues, including conducting workplace investigations and resolving conflicts when needed.
- Additional Duties: Serve as a trusted advisor to management, act as a change agent for HR initiatives, and contribute to employee engagement activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- 4-6 years of HR experience, with a focus on compliance, recruiting, benefits, and employee engagement.
Skills:
- Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication and confidentiality skills.
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent time management, organization, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Experience with HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office, with ADP experience being a plus.
