About the Team
AeroTEC’s Operations Department provides comprehensive, full-service management of all internal company operations. The Operations Department is responsible for administrating and supporting all Departments, implementing policies and procedure, preparing and analyzing company and employee information and supporting all client needs. The Operations Department roles consist of Accounting, IT, Administration (including Purchasing and Travel), Human Resources, Document Control, Facilities (Seattle), Contractor Management, Recruiting and Contracting.
About the Role
The Human Resources Manager position is responsible for the overall day-to-day operation of the Human Resources function, assigning all work and managing deliverables in the following areas: staffing/hiring, affirmative action, onboarding, health and welfare/benefits, leaves of absence, HRIS, employee relations, employee recognition, performance management, safety & workers’ compensation, separation, unemployment, and training. This position manages the performance of other HR professionals in the Group. This role requires the significant exercise of independent discretion and judgment in matters of significance.
In This Role You Will:
HR Department Management
- Build a department structure with appropriate, cost-effective staffing levels and ensure operational performance standards are met or exceeded.
- Act as an inter-departmental planning partner and consult with other leads and managers on projects and initiatives as needed.
- Attend and participate in various management and supervisorial meetings and projects as required.
- Execute regular Human Resources Department meetings.
- Manage short- and long-term HR Department planning. Track goals and progress toward them. Report status regularly to Manager.
- Ensure compliance with all local, State and Federal regulating entities by ensuring all documents, data, information, files and records are updated accordingly. Stay abreast of latest industry trends, update existing processes and implement new processes as required.
Staffing/Hiring/Onboarding
- Oversee company’s recruiting department. Ensure candidates are efficiently screened and hired to support company needs.
- Oversee company’s EEO Reporting (and Affirmative Action when required) and run all employee programs to appropriately reflect goals of the plan.
- Oversee and execute the company’s Employment Verification Process. Ensure program goals are established and met.
- Oversee the company’s Onboarding Program. Ensure program goals are established and met. Ensure annual updates to program are completed timely.
Health and Welfare/Benefits/Leaves
- Manage the company’s annual renewal process. Proactively identify employee desires as well as company goals in order to develop and propose the best possible benefit plan. Manage outside vendor and contractor relationships (e.g. broker).
- Oversee annual open enrollment process.
- Oversee and manage all Leaves of Absence. Ensure all applicable laws and regulations are followed, and that all administration is timely and accurate. Provide guidance to Managers about leaves and management of employee time away from work.
- Government Compliance (5500 Reporting, Auditing, Vendor Managing).
Employee Relations/Performance Management/Separation
- Manage all employee relations issues, including conducting thorough and compliant investigations with appropriate documentation and proposing resolution based on findings. Identify legal risk(s) to the company and ensure compliance with Federal, State and Local laws, regulations and ordinances.
- Provide consultation to managers and employees on the interpretation of company policies, programs and procedures.
- Analyze and provide advice and coaching to managers on methods and approaches to resolve employee work issues.
- Approve all corrective action documentation (e.g. written warnings, PIPs, etc.).
- Through monthly facility visits, serve as a trusted advisor to managers and provide feedback on how they can positively impact their departments.
- Maintain DOT compliance with TPA and ensure program is managed and up to date with all policies, procedures, trainings, and testing as required.
- Act as main liaison with company’s Employment Attorney’s, for employment and immigration processes, procedures, and legal compliance. Review invoices and forward for processing.
- Oversee the company’s talent retention efforts to include talent development. Ensure that development plans are created and accomplished by department managers.
- Manager Development Plans.
- Train managers to create/manage development plans for their teams.
- Work with LT on successful succession planning.
- Manage the company’s Performance Preview and Bonus Program, ensuring timely completion of high quality Previews for all employees.
- Create and manage Company and Department goals to align with Bonus program.
- Coach participants on the program, giving feedback when appropriate.
- Develop and maintain program audit reports for Sr. Management.
- Facilitate Compensation Committee Meetings. Produce documentation and reports for meetings as needed.
- Ensure Job Description Process is executed according to company standards.
- Ensure conformance with company’s written Separation Process.
- Oversee Exit Interview Process. Share annual report on reasons for separation with Management.
- Direct and manage Employee Engagement within Company:
- Monthly Newsletter.
- Employee Events.
- Employee Engagement activities to include all locations.
Payroll / HRIS Administration
- Process Payroll. Submit to Accounting for final approval.
- Act as main liaison between company and payroll/HRIS vendor.
Safety and Workers’ Compensation
- Oversee company’s OSHA/WISHA reporting and HR responsibilities for safety compliance.
- Oversee company’s workers’ compensation administration.
General
- Oversee regular updates to the company’s Employee Handbook. Ensure that policies and procedures are compliance with all applicable Federal, State and Local laws and regulations. Ensure proactive communications with all members of the AeroTEC Team.
- Oversee all Employee Recognition Programs. Ensure program goals are established and objectives are met.
- Oversee training programs as assigned by Manager.
- Perform other duties as required and assigned.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state and local laws, regulations and ordinance throughout all areas of responsibility. Ensure team members are executing HR programs in a compliant manner.
Qualifications
The Skills You Will Bring (Minimum):
Education
- Four (4) year degree in Human Resources, a related field or equivalent experience.
- HR Certification preferred (SPHR-CP, SPHR-SCP, PHR or SPHR).
Experience
- Six (6) years of Human Resources generalist work experience. Experience should include knowledge as well as some practical experience across at least eight (8) of the HR functional areas listed above.
- Eight (8) years preferred.
- Experience managing direct reports within Human Resources team to meet departmental goals and objectives preferred.

- Travel 20% (flying and driving) to various international and domestic worksites may be required.
- Driving personal vehicle for errands required. State driver’s license and clean driving record required.
