Job Description
GENERAL PURPOSE
To perform a variety of routine data entry, clerical, claim filing, and administrative work in support of the Risk Management Division.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Employee has no supervisory responsibilities.
Essential Duties
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Direct responsibility and management of claims against the City; processes and administers claims filed against the City; prepares claims, and reports; acts as liaison between the insurance company, City, and the claimant.
Direct responsibility and management of claims against other insurance companies; processes and administers claims filed against other insurance companies; acts as liaison between the insurance company and the City.
Direct responsibility and management of workers’ compensation claims; processes and administers claims filed by injured workers; prepares claims, reports, acts as liaison between the insurance company, City, and the employee.
Updates tracking logs for all claims, injuries, and illnesses to include lost time and modified duty days.
Manages the work-related light duty program for injured workers.
Reconciles all Temporary Income Benefit (TIBs) payments with City deductions.
Monitors and documents the use of time for all injured employees to ensure compliance with the City of Killeen Administrative Policies and Procedures.
Assists with various workers’ compensation and liability insurance audits.
Creates monthly status reports of claims.
Performs clerical and data entry work for the Risk Manager.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education And Experience
- Graduation from high school or equivalent; and
- One (1) year of experience with workers’ compensation and liability insurance claims, or other related experience; or
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Working knowledge of computers and current version of MS Office Suite;
- Working knowledge of modern office practices and procedures;
- Skill in operating the listed tools and equipment;
- Ability to discuss rules, policies, and laws pertaining to workers’ compensation;
- Ability to conduct research and make appropriate analysis and reports of information acquired;
- Ability to maintain efficient and effective claims systems and procedures;
- Ability to maintain confidential information;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, City officials, vendors, claimants, and the general public;
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing;
- Ability to deliver effective presentations in front of groups;
- Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.

Special Requirements
Must have a valid driver’s license by date of hire.
Must obtain and maintain a Texas Driver’s License within 60 days of hire.
