Tiegerman School and Tiegerman Community Services is looking for an experienced Human Resources Assistant to join our team!
Tiegerman School is a special education program servicing children K-12.
Tiegerman Community Services (TCS) is a program working with special needs adults.
The Human Resources Assistant is responsible for all Human Resources activities amongst our programs in Long Island and Queens. The Human Resources Assistant reports directly to the Human Resources Coordinator. The Human Resources Assistant is a non-exempt position. This position is located in Glen Cove, NY.
Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
- Review and process employment applications and resumes
- Explain company policies and procedures to all applicants and employees of Tiegerman
- Answer employee questions pertaining to benefits, medical forms, time off policies, time and attendance records, employment opportunities, salary inquiries, etc.
- Maintain time and attendance and payroll records for all employees
- Gather personnel records for each employee upon hire and ensure that paperwork is up to date on an annual basis
- Phone screen and interview applicants for vacant positions
- Conduct verifications of employment for all potential employees
- Present at orientation for all new staff members
- Maintains Human Resources Information Systems
- Provides disciplinary action to employees as needed
- Ensure that all medical records are in compliance with New York State and OPWDD regulations
- Distribute benefit options to all employees upon their eligibility
- Run payroll on a bi-weekly basis
- Review and modify time and attendance records on a bi-weekly basis
- Maintain and upkeep personnel records for all staff members
- Post jobs for vacant positions on social media websites and inform employees of vacant positions within the organization
- Ensure that all new hire paperwork is submitted through all New York State and OPWDD Agencies
- Review employee handbook on an annual basis to ensure that all information is current and up to date
Experience with NYSED and/or OPWDD preferred.
