Job Summary: We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented HR Generalist to join our team reporting to the Chief of Staff. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and is passionate about building a strong foundation for HR operations in an early-stage company. The HR Generalist will play a key role in payroll/benefits management, candidate sourcing and recruitment, as well as onboarding, compliance training, and credentialing paperwork for new hires. This position provides a unique opportunity to contribute to the company’s growth by ensuring efficient HR processes and supporting a positive experience for new team members from the start.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll/Benefits Management (30%)
- Manage accurate and timely processing of payroll for timecard employees across multiple states, ensuring compliance with state-specific wage and hour laws, including overtime, meal/rest break regulations, and accurate timekeeping practices.
- Administer employee benefits programs, including enrollment, changes, and terminations, while coordinating with third-party vendors and ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Stay updated on and ensure adherence to state-specific labor laws, such as unemployment insurance, paid sick leave, and meal/rest period requirements, implementing necessary changes to policies and procedures.
- Serve as a resource for employees and managers regarding payroll and benefits inquiries, providing guidance on state-specific policies and ensuring clear communication on compliance-related issues.
Candidate Sourcing & Scheduling (30%)
- Conduct pre-screenings on qualified candidates for the Registered Dietitian roles across the organization, Coordinate interview schedules with hiring managers.
Onboarding & Credentialing Intake Management (30%)
- Facilitate offer paperwork and employee profile setup for new employees.
- Complete the onboarding checklist for new hires, including requesting the setup of necessary equipment, software, and system access from our IT vendor.
- Oversee scheduling for training periods by aligning trainee/manager calendars.
- Track and maintain compliance documents, licenses and certifications, ensuring that the organization meets regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the credentialing intake for new hires, ensuring timely completion and submission of all required documents.
Employee & Manager Support (10%)
- Support other HR functions, such as employee relations, recruitment, performance management, and training initiatives.
- Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- 3+ years of HR experience, preferably in an early-stage company or high-growth environment; 5-7+ years of total professional experience.
- Strong understanding of multi-state payroll processes and familiarity with multi-EIN organizations.
- Experience with Gusto and Workable is a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- High attention to detail, especially in handling confidential information and documentation.
