Job Overview
The Human Resources Generalist will support MCI by performing critical tasks such as processing payroll, administering benefits, onboarding new employees, enforcing policies, and assisting with performance management. The ideal candidate for this role will demonstrate a high level of integrity, a strong depth of HR knowledge, and a proactive approach to HR-related issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Process weekly and biweekly payroll
- Review daily labor reports; manage employee attendance tracking system and utilization of time off
- Administer health, vision, dental, LTD, AD&D, and life insurance policies; coordinate with provider on supplemental policies
- Administer FMLA and other leaves; monitor leave utilization
- Manage entire Workers’ Compensation process
- Administer 401k
- Assist with the recruiting, hiring, and onboarding processes
- Work with employees and leadership to address Reasonable Accommodation requests
- Address employee concerns and serve as a resource for employees on policies, programs, systems, benefits, and other HR-related inquiries
- Enforce current policies and work with other HR team members to implement new policies as necessary; suggest new procedures, policies, systems, etc. for increasing efficiency and improving the employee experience
- Assist with investigations, performance improvement plans, disciplinary actions, terminations, etc.
- Represent the organization in unemployment insurance hearings and investigations
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of employment laws and regulations, ensuring compliance and mitigating legal risks; update policies and procedures to remain in compliance as necessary
- Collaborate with attorneys, leadership, and other HR team members to address legal matters
- Maintain accurate HR records
- Support various Accounts Payable tasks
- Support annual processes such as performance reviews, merit increases, benefits renewal, audits, OSHA and 401k reporting, etc.
- Support employee engagement initiatives and promote a positive work environment
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Ability to work at a desk all day
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will also be considered
- Professional certification such as PHR or SHRM-SCP is a plus
- At least 5 years of experience in an HR role in a Manufacturing facility handling payroll, benefits, and employee relations and interacting with employees at all levels within the organization
- Knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance
- Ability to understand and apply guidelines, policies, and procedures consistently and equitably
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills; ability to exercise sound judgement and seek guidance when appropriate
- Self-motivation and proactivity; ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate professionally and effectively to multiple levels of the organization as well as external contacts, partner with people patiently, and respond diplomatically in all situations
- Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain the highest standard of respect and confidentiality
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and experience using an HRIS
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred
